THE FILM
The life of a GOONie.
Goonie chronicles the life of L.P and his search for personal freedom. L.P has to decide between the life of hustling in the streets or finding a basic job to pay his sick mother's bills. L.P and his surroundings confront the crude reality of a goonie.
Goonie is, by definition, a good friend or a ‘homie’. It is also a gang terminology for low level gang members. Goonie is a real person and, an invisible one. This short film explores how this two definitions impact L.P in a crucial moment of his life.

THE MISSION
Look through the eyes of the victims.
Goonie served as a platform for Lawrence and Michael Mason. Through the script, acting, and music they were able to express their fears and dreams. We were interested in what role were they playing in their Pensacola community as well. Our mission was to look to the problem through the eyes of the victims, the day to day hustlers, the goonies.

We are trying to expand our mission to different cities across United States. We're looking for storytellers that want to share their stories as Lawrence and Michael did. We're looking for goonies.

THE FACTS
The truth is..
The truth is "racial discrimination diminishes the ability of African American youths to build strong bonds with their school, which in turn should increase their likelihood of engaging in problematic behaviors over time"(Gabiddon and Unnever in "A Theory of African America Offending").
Racial discrimination still affects low-income communities across America. It diminishes the access to better education while facing potential access to criminal gangs.
